WOYWW - Wreath By Evergreen

Tonight My workdesk is being presided over by the first episode of Ugly Betty, which is cuter than I recall and streaming in the background.
If you know me at all, you know that I am NOT patient, and you also know that I HATE rules. However, there are a couple that are paramount to living life to the best of your ability, when I defy these I often regret it.

#1 - Don't ever leave the house in underwear that you wouldn't want to be caught dead in. I learned this one in the fifth grade, when an emergency appendectomy found me in the hospital wearing care bear panties. Man those were cute, wish I had a pair like that now.

#2 - Never give your number to a stranger, your email, yes, but your number never. I learned this one the hard way Halloween 2009 when I met Jack, who my friends later wrote a song about. He is now affectionately known in past tense as JTR - Jack the Ripper. Haha. Good times.

#3 - Never ever, ever, decorate the house for the holidays until the house is Mr. Clean clean. HAHA. HAHAHAHAHAH

So, this is something I'm going to for sure find myself regretting. This is the view to the West of my desk......

And here is the main event. Yep, that's an Evergreen bough!

Tonight I found myself in the flower district, desperate to keep warm. In addition to coming down with a cold, I'm finding myself in the city without gloves fairly often, but usually only on the coldest days of the year.

I ducked into a lofted space and before I knew it, I was the proud owner of this fine specimen of wreathdom.

So tonight, despite the MESS, out came the felties.

I created the felties years ago at my parent's beach house on Oahu. I am pretty sure I was 14 when I first pulled out every sheet of red, white and green felt we owned and went to town creating an army of snowmen and holiday stars.

So half my life ago, I made these little fellows, and now they still have a place in a sandy zip-lock bag in my box labeled 'Christmas'.

So I pulled out the copper wire, and cut my hands to high heaven, and now they are happily strung on my welcoming front door.

Felties unite!

Oh your wreath is adorable, and so well, you! Love the felties and that even at your tender age you have a tradition in decorations going! Gloves - I have a pair in every coat pocket, the car and my shopping basket...and still find myself glove-less when it counts. I now think I'm in good company!

So cute! Love those felties.
Since their very first Christmas I have bought my two children a decoration each year and labelled them with their age at the time and the year. When they leave home (many years from now) I will box up their decorations for them to start their own tree! **sniff** Getting all weepy!

awwww! those felties are so cute!!! And see #3 is the whole reason I haven't started decorating yet for Christmas. The kids want to know when we're going to set up the tree. I want to know when the magical cleaning fairy is going to show up and take down the Halloween decorations. ;)

pssssst. don't forget your gloves today! Its going to be another COLD one today.

Lovely felties, thanks for sharing! He he, I don't follow rules either, don't care so much about cleaning during winter, it's so dark anyway, no one will see anything in candle light!

Hooray #1! Love that you kept your felties all these years - such treasures. I have some elves that are half a century old (from my childhood) They would look so cute in a wreath. Not to worry about a Mr. Clean house - your decor will take away people's breath and they'll forget about looking in corners for spidey webs!

What a lovely idea! Very unusual...nobody else will have a wreath quite like yours.

Oh yes - I think Christmas should be full of happy memeories like those gorgeous little felties on your wreath.

Christmas i all about memories . your wreath is lovely. If I put that sort of thing on my wreath it would be all damp and unusable again. It has to be rainproof.
